Access and analyses

Once data access has been granted, you can access the data through the ELIXIR Luxembourg Data Catalogue.

Steps to follow:

1. Log in with the user account you have used before. See more on page on authentication
2. Navigate to your profile page (top right corner) -> My access requests
3. In the list of datasets, choose dataset of your interest
4. On the dataset page, click on "Access data"

You are given several options of how to access data based on the dataset availability.

Data is available for download

If the data is available for download, it is served through LCSB File Transfer (LFT) tool, a transfer channel based on IBM Aspera software, which supports end-to-end encrypted data transfers.

The download link is time limited and expires after 2 weeks. You can always navigate to the dataset page and generate a new link as long as your access is valid.

After clicking the acces link, you will be asked to enter the password. If you are accessing an LFT link for the very first time, you will be prompted to install IBM Aspera Connect client.

Warning

Your firewall may interfere with Aspera Connect. If you experience difficulties with downloading data, please disable your firewall or contact your IT department for support.

All data are encrypted on server side and they stay encrypted upon download. For decrypting data locally, you will be prompted for decryption passphrase which is available in the browser interface.

For download of bigger data or download using a server, the data on LFT can also be accessed via the terminal.

Other means of access

Currently, only direct data download is available. ELIXIR Luxembourg is working on additional solutions to enable remote access within dedicated research environments. Integrations with federated learning platforms are also in progress.
